Re: How to configure Agentry server load balancer

Swaroopa,

The load balancer configuration settings are specific to the device / software being used so I can't really elaborate on the specifics beyond the following.

Agentry Client ----> (7003) Load Balancer ------>  (7100) Agentry Server #1

                                                                   |----->  (7100) Agentry Server #2

In this example the Agentry client would be using the hostname / port of the load balancer that it is listening on for traffic to balance between the two servers in this example.

When the load balancer receives traffic on port 7003 it will pass through that traffic to port 7100 on Agentry Server #1.  Of course the port on the Agentry server can still be 7003 or some other port based on your configuration.

The next connection received would typically be passed through to Agentry Server #2 which can be using the same port or a different port from Agentry Server #1.

The Agentry client only knows about the load balancer and has no knowledge of what ports or how many servers are behind the load balancer.  This allows you to scale as needed and gives you redundancy in case one of the servers goes down for some reason (planned or unplanned).

Hopefully this helps,
