Re: Storage snapshot backup - damaged data pages

This information just means that no check is done, but as long as there is no problem with the system components, no damaged pages are written. It is similar to a running SAP HANA system: It is recommended to run consistency checks like CHECK_TABLE_CONSISTENCY to be on the save side, but if you don't run it, it doesn't mean that you will get corrupted pages.

 

If a snapshot contains corrupted pages, a recovery based on this snapshot will not clean the corruptions.

 

The best way to check for proper checksums is to run a normal backup. Other tools are not available (apart from an expert tool used by SAP HANA development).
